The two leaders received their award at EDGE: Educate, Discover, Gather, Evolve, which is the 2018 International Conference of Travel Leaders Network taking place in Las Vegas, at Caesar’s Palace.
“Sandy and Dave have been ardent supporters of Travel Leaders and have embraced our network’s tools, programs, technology and services to their advantage to help them expand their business locations throughout the Twin Cities, along with going to great lengths to promote the Travel Leaders brand,” stated John Lovell, CTC, President of Travel Leaders Network and Leisure Group. “As one example, they were a driving force behind Travel Leaders Network’s co-sponsorship of the Minneapolis Star Tribune Vacation & Travel Experience held at the Minneapolis Convention Center this past fall.”
In addition, the Lovicks’ operate a Travel Leaders Academy, one of the most comprehensive training programs in the travel industry. The Academy thoroughly prepares students for a variety of travel-related career tracks after graduation. Their dedication to education extends to their existing travel agents.
“Sandy and Dave ensure their travel agents take advantage of ongoing education and in-depth training programs and workshops offered by Travel Leaders Network throughout the year and at our conferences and forums,” added Roger E. Block, CTC, President of Travel Leaders Network. “Their agents have a wide range of expertise and specializations to share with clients seeking a variety of travel experiences. I am very proud to honor this two-generation ownership duo with this well-deserved Associate of the Year award.”
The Lovicks’ Travel Leaders locations were established in 1979, the year Sandy Lovick entered the travel business. Five years later, she started Market Square Travel in a renovated warehouse space in the International Market Square building on the edge of downtown Minneapolis. The Lovicks joined Travel Leaders Network (then Ask Mr. Foster) in 1986, and have expanded their reach with six locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area and one in western Wisconsin. Because of their size and the wide-ranging talent of their many travel agents, they have the expertise to assist clients with leisure and corporate travel, luxury travel, group travel, destination weddings, honeymoon travel, and more.
The Lovicks were first honored with Travel Leaders’ “Associate of the Year” award in 2008 and again in 2016. They also received Travel Leaders’ highest honor, the Golden Legacy Award, in 2009. In order to be considered for the Associate of the Year award, they first had to earn Travel Leaders’ “Agency of Excellence” award. Only 26 franchisees nationally were honored with that distinction in 2018. To earn the “Agency of Excellence” award, Travel Leaders agencies are scored in several categories that reflect business growth, utilization of marketing programs to effectively reach local consumers, participation in key training programs to enhance service to their clients, as well as in local and national business networking meetings, and their overall promotion of the Travel Leaders brand.
During nearly 40 years of serving local travelers, the Lovicks have increased their presence to include – Blaine (10950 Club West Parkway Suite 180), Maple Grove (13756 83rd Way North), Mendota Heights (750 Main Street, Suite 105), Rochester (3522 55th Street NW, Suite 4), Stillwater (5980 Neal Ave N., Suite 200), and Woodbury (710 Commerce Drive, Suite 160), along with River Falls, WI (117 East Maple Street).
