Travel Leaders of Tomorrow Marks Major Milestone With 1,000TH Participant

The virtual travel advisor training program has experienced major growth during its first five years

NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 26, 2018) – Travel Leaders of Tomorrow, the award-winning travel advisor training program from Travel Leaders Group, has achieved a major milestone: over 1,000 participants have now been through the program. Started in 2013, Travel Leaders of Tomorrow offers training for prospective travel agents through two programs:

  • Virtual Campus: Travel Leaders of Tomorrow’s flagship program combines in-depth lessons and convenience. After an admissions interview, each participant is assigned to a small group for virtual study and weekly lessons from travel industry experts. At the end of the course, participants in the Virtual Campus present a business plan to their fellow students and instructors.
  • Independent Learner: This program offers complete flexibility with all lessons being taken online. Quizzes are provided for all learning modules and independent learning students can take the course at their own pace.

“I’m extremely proud of the growth and success we have achieved in the first five years of this program,” said Heather Kindred, CTIE, Director of Travel Leaders of Tomorrow. “Many of our students have gone on to successful careers as travel advisors, opening independent businesses or working in established travel agencies. It would be impossible to estimate how many trips they’ve planned, but it is safe to say that they have taken the skills they learned in Travel Leaders of Tomorrow and touched numerous people by planning vacations of a lifetime.”

Travel Leaders of Tomorrow participants represent a cross-section of demographics. The program serves millennials looking for their first job, people who want to work on their travel agency as a side job, and retirees looking for an encore career. Throughout the course, Travel Leaders of Tomorrow students are asked to consider their strengths and develop them into an actionable niche for selling travel. The curriculum was developed in response to a need for new talent in the travel industry and the lack of formalized training for new travel advisors.

Travel Leaders of Tomorrow recently expanded its programming to include Nexion Veterans in Travel, a scholarship program that offers military veterans entrance into the Virtual Campus and discounted rates for Nexion Travel Group membership.

“The best way to ensure a continually robust travel industry is to bring in new talent,” said Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE, President of Nexion Travel Group. “Many brick and mortar travel schools had closed, leaving a dearth of options for those seeking to enter the travel industry. One of the things that makes the travel industry attractive is the flexibility it offers, and heading up a host agency, we saw how travel advisors love working where they want to. It made sense to start a program that allowed students to learn the travel industry from the comfort of their own homes. At the same time, they need expert guidance and coaching, which we can provide virtually. It has been an amazing time, and we are proud to have educated 1,000 people and launched the careers of many successful travel agents.”
