February 22, 2017

When you take a minute to think about Alaska, what comes to mind? Whether it’s the more than 100,000 glaciers, snow-covered mountains, active volcanoes, variety of wildlife, national parks and more, the 49th state is truly a breathtaking place to visit

The 14-day “Great Land Explorer” cruise features exclusives such as a Voyage Host, optional private excursion in Victoria and festive cocktail parties for guests partaking in the anniversary cruise.

Seattle, Washington (February 22, 2017) – Today, Cruise Specialists, announced full details regarding its Anniversary Cruise, celebrating 30 years as North America’s leader in arranging the most luxurious cruise and overland vacations for its clients. Guests will be treated to an exciting 14-day cruise to Alaska embarking from Cruise Specialists’ hometown of Seattle onboard Holland America Line’s ms Amsterdam on July 3, 2017. In addition to enjoying the stunning scenery, astonishing glaciers, and magnificent wildlife, clients traveling with Cruise Specialists will be treated to exclusive added amenities including a dedicated Voyage Host, optional private day-long excursion in Victoria and festive, private cocktail parties.

“Reaching this major milestone anniversary wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous support from our clientele, so we are reciprocating and have created a special commemorative cruise for us to celebrate together,” said Annie Scrivanich, Senior Vice President, Cruise Specialists. “Coincidentally, this year also marks Holland America Line’s 70th anniversary, and over the past 30 years, we have partnered with them to provide our clients with amazing Alaska cruise experiences. For this year and this anniversary, we couldn’t think of a better partner.”

Alaska is a “dream” destination for many American travelers, and according to a recent survey, Alaska cruises rank among the Top 5 U.S. “destinations being booked for 2017 – just ahead of Honolulu and just behind Las Vegas. The celebratory Alaska cruise, fittingly, will begin and end in Seattle, where Cruise Specialists and Holland America Line are each based. Cruise Specialists’ founder, Janet Lanterman, is the godmother of ms Amsterdam, which sails on both World & Grand Voyages and is the only ship to sail roundtrip from Seattle to Anchorage. The cruise includes off-the-beaten track ports of call in Anchorage, Homer and Kodiak along with Juneau, Ketchikan and Icy Strait Point along with a close-up view of Hubbard Glacier.

“When you take a minute to think about Alaska, what comes to mind? Whether it’s the more than 100,000 glaciers, snow-covered mountains, active volcanoes, variety of wildlife, national parks and more, the 49th state is truly a breathtaking place to visit,” added Scrivanich. “We want this to truly be a memorable journey for our clients. For 30 years they have allowed our dedicated cruise consultants to share their extraordinary expertise while building personal and lasting relationships with each client. We are incredibly grateful they have entrusted us for all these years to help them see the world and make lasting memories. We certainly intend to continue doing that on this sailing and for years to come.”

To celebrate this special anniversary, Cruise Specialists has planned an exclusive and private optional excursion in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, as part of the overall experience. Guests will first visit the world-famous Butchart GardensThese magnificent gardens were created in the early 1900s and are still owned by descendants of Robert and Jennie Butchart. More than 1 million people have visited the garden since 1920.

Next, guests will enjoy an afternoon of high tea at the Victorian Gatsby Mansion, which overlooks the Inner Harbor. Built in 1890 by Robert Pendray, this mansion was originally called Huntingdon Manor and is now a boutique hotel and restaurant. It was renamed by another owner as “Gatsby Mansion” after F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age classic, The Great Gatsby.

Cruise Specialists’ clients will receive exclusive amenities as part of this commemorative 30th Anniversary cruise including:

  • Services of Cruise Specialists’ Voyage Hosts, Henk and Lucia Barnhoorn, to assist with any client needs throughout the cruise including special requests
