Family owned company traces its roots to India in 1928

ALEXANDRIA, VIA (October 20, 2021) – Greaves Travel, a family run business with roots going back nearly a century, has received the 2021 Golden Legacy Award, the highest honor bestowed by Travel Leaders Network.

The award recognizes extraordinary professionalism and commitment to both Travel Leaders Network and the travel industry. It was presented to Greaves executives Ian Cambata and Shahrookh Cambata at Travel Leaders Network’s annual EDGE conference, which took place Oct. 18-21 in Orlando.

The conference, at Loews Royal Pacific & Sapphire Falls Resorts, brought together travel advisors and industry partners including airlines, cruise lines, hotels and resorts, and tour companies.

Greaves Travel is owned and operated by second- and third-generation members of the Cambata family. In 1928, they were pivotal in founding the Bombay Flying Club, building a fleet of aircraft for use across India. In the 1960s, their helicopters flew both The Beatles and Pope Paul VI.

From that beginning, the family has built a global travel management company.

The Cambatas acquired British company Greaves Travel in 1979 and expanded into marketing and ticketing. They opened their first office in North America in 1990, in Chicago, followed by more than a dozen locations across the United States and Canada.

In 2013, Greaves joined Travel Leaders Group, a forerunner of Travel Leaders Network.

Greaves has continuted to develop new and innovative approaches for the travel industry through its technology arm, Web-Fares L.L.C., started in 1991. Clients, including airlines and travel agencies, receive unique, thoughtful solutions to real-world problems.

In 2015, Greaves launched Travel Leaders 24 to provide after-hours support services to customers around the world, and a year later, introduced its exclusive chat and mobile platforms.

In 2018, Greaves re-launched its corporate and leisure travel offerings under the Travel Leaders 365 banner. The company, based in Highland Park, Illinois, serves corporate clients in a variety of fields including financial services, law, health care and technology. Its leisure travel specialties include high-end independent travel, international honeymoons and group trips through a wide-reaching luxury program.

In 2019, Travel Leaders 365 became a branch of the Tzell Travel Group.

Greaves Tours specializes in luxury trips to India and beyond, including Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Indian Ocean islands. Its personalized journeys have won Greaves a spot on Travel + Leisure magazine’s list of the world’s best tour operators.

On its trips, Greaves is committed to responsible, sustainable tourism. For example, in line with recent efforts to protect wildlife, the company does not support the riding of elephants. Instead, it promotes ethically responsible and safe interactions with animals.

Greaves Tours also supports a variety of charities in India, from clean-water initiatives to orphanages and animal welfare.
