Donations to benefit citizens in 13 North Texas counties
Irving, TX (August 6, 2018) – Nexion, the premier host agency for independent travel agents, with headquarters in Irving, brought together employees, travel agent members and supplier partners to collect donations, raise funds and volunteer to support hunger relief as part of the company’s recent annual Day of Giving campaign. The donations will benefit the nutritional needs of children, families and seniors in 13 counties throughout North Texas represented by the North Texas Food Bank and Irving Cares, as well as support local food banks throughout the United States and Canada where Nexion also has employees and members.
“No one in our community should be going to bed hungry at night,” said Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE, President of Nexion. “At Nexion, we know we are fortunate to work in the travel industry, which brings people together from across the globe on a daily basis, and our organization is made up of individuals who care deeply about others. I’m proud of the impact our team’s efforts will have in supporting those in need.”
During the campaign, Nexion donated 1,243 food items and $15,152 (the equivalent of 45,456 meals) to the North Texas Food Bank. The company also spent a day participating in a large-scale volunteer effort at the food bank, packing 316 boxes, 10 pallets and 9,048 lbs. of meat.
In total, Nexion employees and member travel agents’ participation in Day of Giving activities resulted in over 350 volunteer hours. The philanthropic initiative was part of a larger “Day of Giving” effort conducted by Nexion’s parent company, Travel Leaders Group, that involved multiple business units and thousands of employees, affiliated travel agents and supplier partners.

Throughout Travel Leaders Group, the combined Day of Giving efforts led to the donation of more than 19,000 non-perishable items. Additionally, nearly $70,000 was donated to hunger relief organizations and more than 700 individuals volunteered their time.
