For the Fifth Consecutive Year, Protravel Locations Collected Food, Volunteered at Food Banks and Donated Cash to Combat Hunger in Each Community
New York, NY (July 24, 2017) — Today, Protravel International, headquartered in New York City, announced that nearly 1,000 travel agents and employees came to the aid of local food banks by contributing 5,674 food items, raising nearly $5,500 in monetary donations companywide, and 77 agents and employees volunteering their time at local food relief and community centers. The collective effort organized by Protravel’s parent company was called the “Day of Giving.” On July 13, Protravel’s branch offices throughout the United States and United Kingdom joined in Travel Leaders Group’s effort to help end hunger.
“Hunger is a universal issue and it is heartbreaking to see that families cannot feed their children, in our own communities, so everyone at Protravel was eager to help replenish depleted food banks during the summer months,” said Gail Grimmett, President of Protravel International. “Supporting many humanitarian efforts and giving back to the community has always been an essential part of our company’s culture. As part of its 2017 Day of Giving, Protravel agents and employees committed to support food relief and community centers in the following locations:
Protravel International’s participation contributed to the concerted effort of Travel Leaders Group’s “Day of Giving” on July 13, 2017, which ultimately collected 16,999 food items and $78,400 donations. Approximately 412 Travel Leaders Group employees and travel agents volunteered time with local food banks in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Uruguay.
